2019 Belt & Road China Open International Taekwondo Championships was held in Xi’an city of Shaanxi Province in Central China and hosted attracting nearly 600 Players from 16 Countries & Regions to compete in the three-day match, from 7th November 2019 to 9th November 2019.

China Open International Taekwondo Championships, which is hosted annually by the World & Asian Taekwondo Federations.

As the championship is a points race of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the traditionally strong teams of countries such as Iran and Thailand have sent their seeded players to the event.

The Brazilian team sent its athletes who had taken part in the Military World Games which was held last month in Wuhan City, central China’s Hubei Province.

President of the Chinese Taekwondo Association Guang Jianmin said at the Opening of the event that hope it can promote Taekwondo and the National Fitness Program in Xi’an and hope more players from the Belt & Road Countries will participate in it.

Farzad Mansoori Afghan Martial artist, Member of the National Taekwondo Team, won a Silver Medal in the 2019 Belt & Road China Open International Taekwondo Championships.

Six Athletes from Afghanistan, including two girls, participated in the event.

He competed in the 68 kg weight category. Mansoori defeated a Chinese rival in his first match and a Nepalese in the second. Mansoori lost his third match to a Chinese team member but won his fourth match also against Chinese. In the fifth match, he faced injuries in his leg and had to forfeit.
