Around 400 Companies from more than 30 Countries and Regions around the world presented over 1,000 drones at the fourth Drone World Congress, in Shenzhen City, South China’s Guangdong Province on the weekend.

Themed “Future of Intelligence”, the annual event was not only a platform for international companies to present their latest technologies but also a stage for Chinese Companies to showcase their latest innovations.

Drones have been playing an important role in the healthcare industry during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and sales have been rising accordingly as companies release new drone models to meet the needs of customers.

“Under the epidemic-related circumstances, our company has received more orders. Different tripod heads have different functions, such as delivering supplies, publicity and propaganda, sanitizing, and and disinfecting.

They can be used for more than 50 applications,” said Li Huansheng, deputy general manager of Harwar International Aviation Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.

Underwater drones have also been gaining popularity among both hobbyists and professionals, whether they’re deployed for taking photographs or utilized in rescue missions.

“Our underwater drone, which can also be called an underwater robot, is able to dive into water as deep as 150 meters. We not only focus on the consumer-grade market, but are also developing industry-level applications,” explained Wang Xinghui, sales director of Shenzhen Geneinno Technology Co., Ltd.

According to data released by the Drone World Congress, there are over 650 drone companies in Shenzhen, with the total export volume of drones for the year reaching 18 billion yuan (about 2.63 billion U.S. dollars).

“Drones are mainly exported to countries along the Belt & Road, and in ASEAN Countries, the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe. This trend is still expanding in the second half of this year. The output value of Shenzhen’s drone industry is expected to exceed 50 billion yuan [about 7.3 billion U.S. dollars] this year,” said Shenzhen UAV Industry Association president Yang Jincai.
