China & Kyrgyzstan have pledged to further elevate their comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
This follows a meeting between Chinese State Councilor & Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Chingiz Aidarbekov, in Bishkek on weekend.
Wang noted that China and Kyrgyzstan are friendly neighbours and comprehensive strategic partners that have seen their relations steadily grow.
He said that the traditional friendship has withstood the test of the COVID-19 epidemic through mutual support, which has helped advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Wang said that China will continue to stand with the Kyrgyz people until both countries conquer the epidemic, pledging that China will make its COVID-19 vaccine a global public good when it is ready for application and will also prioritize Kyrgyzstan’s need both in vaccine development and in the research and development of traditional Chinese medicine to the benefit of the Kyrgyz people.
He said the two sides are a community of shared future and interests, adding that China firmly supports Kyrgyzstan in following a development path suited to its national conditions and supported by the Kyrgyz people, resolutely stands with Kyrgyzstan in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, national dignity and legitimate rights and interests, and staunchly opposes any foreign interference in Kyrgyzstan’s internal affairs.

Wang called on the two sides to expedite mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas and revitalize trade and economic ties against the backdrop of the epidemic and expressed his welcome to the Kyrgyz side to participate in this year’s China International Import Expo (CIIE).
Aidarbekov said Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to its relations with China, adding that the two sides have maintained close communication and reached important consensus despite the epidemic.
Kyrgyzstan is grateful to China for aiding its fight against COVID-19 and hopes China will continue to support the country in areas such as vaccine development as well as the research and development of traditional Chinese medicine, he said.
Aidarbekov reiterated his country’s adherence to the one-China policy, its continued support for China over issues related to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Xinjiang, and its firm opposition to foreign interference in China’s internal affairs.
Kyrgyzstan is ready to get fully involved in China’s Belt & Road Initiative and to push forward the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, and deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in fields such as trade, investment, education and youth so as to inject fresh impetus to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
After the meeting, the two ministers also met the press and witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements.
