Asian Countries should firmly maintain a peaceful and stable development environment and work together to boost regional economic recovery, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said over the weekend.

Premier Li made the remarks in a speech via video link at the Business & Investment Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) held in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam.

Li said:

the ASEAN is China’s close neighbor and important cooperative partner. The trade and investment between the two sides have grown against the trend in the context of the global economic downturn

The ASEAN has become China’s largest trading partner, and the economic ties and industrial ties between the two sides have become closer, Li added.

Li briefly introduced China’s economic situation, saying that China has coordinated the epidemic prevention and control and economic development, and promptly and decisively introduced effective and reasonable macroeconomic policies in response to the impact of the epidemic.

Li said China has continued to promote tax and fee reductions, and deepen reforms to delegate powers, improve regulations, and provide better services, so as to better improve the business environment and stimulate the vitality of hundreds of millions of market players.

With the hard work, China has seen its economy resumed positive growth in the first three quarters, said Li, adding that the Chinese economy is sure to achieve positive growth this year.

Li pointed out that under the current situation, Asian countries should firmly maintain a peaceful and stable development environment, strive to promote regional economic integration, promote free trade under the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and promote economic integration at the regional level.

Li called on Countries to strengthen the synergy of development strategies, promote Belt & Road Cooperation, and work together to promote regional economic recovery.

Li pointed out that next year will usher in the 30th anniversary of the establishment of dialog relations between China and the ASEAN. Li believes that the relationship between China and the ASEAN will become more mature, which will further benefit the peoples of China and ASEAN countries, and will be conducive to the regional and world peace, stability and prosperity.
