The construction of comprehensive transport system for the Yangtze River Economic Belt has been accelerated in recent years and high-end navigation passages along the belt will total 10,000 Kilometers in length by the end of 2020, more than 60 percent of China’s total inland waterway.
The Transport System will effectively support the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
“The 14 Projects for Railway-Waterway Intermodal Transport, including Baiyang Port Water Rail of the Three Gorges Dam, are under full swing construction.
Twenty-nine intermodal transport demonstration projects including that for the Zhengzhou-Europe international freight trains are well carried out, and active efforts are made to develop multi-modal transport with ports as the hub.
In the next step, our ministry will speed up the high-quality development of the comprehensive transport system for the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and build an artery to facilitate the dual domestic and international circulation,” said Sun Wenjian, spokesman of the Ministry of Transport.
China will complete a number of key projects of high-speed railways along the Yangtze River, inter-provincial highway sections of national expressways, and aviation hubs. It is estimated that by the end of 2020, the expressways of the Yangtze River Economic Belt will exceed 60,000 kilometers in total length.
The Yangtze River Economic Belt consists of 11 provinces and municipalities and accounts for about half of China’s Population and GDP.
