China and the African Union (AU) recently signed a cooperation plan between the two sides to jointly promote the Construction of the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI).

The plan puts forward a timetable for key projects in the areas of policy coordination, infrastructure connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration, and people-to-people exchanges between China and African Countries.

The plan will further dovetail the Belt & Road Initiative with the AU’s Agenda 2063, which is a blueprint for Africa’s development and prosperity.

China has so far signed 202 BRI Cooperation documents with 138 Countries and 31 International Organizations.
