A number of 10,000-ton Cargo Ships have been put into operation in Three Gorges Shipping Area of Chongqing Section on Sunday.

A New Cargo Ship named “Yujian Logistics No.17”, which belongs to Chongqing Yujian Logistics Company was transporting goods on the Wanzhou Section of Yangtze River.

Carrying 8,500 tons of iron ore from Taicang City of East China’s Jiangsu Province to Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, the ship is the heaviest cargo ship sailing in the Three Gorges shipping area.

Equipped with advanced navigation facilities, the ship is much safer and efficient than the normal ones. It can reduce the transport cost while increasing economic efficiency by about 30 percent.

“Now our company has six cargo ships with a capacity of 10,000 tons and another three ships with such a capacity are under construction, elevating the total transport capacity to 98,400 tons.

With the continuous promotion of green intelligent ships in the Yangtze River, we will better serve the strategy of developing the Yangtze River Economic Belt,” said Wang Jianjun, general manager of Chongqing Yujian Logistics Company.

The Transport Department of Wangzhou District in Chongqing Municipality plays an active role in the implementation of “Belt & Road Project” as well as the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB).

The section has achieved a fast development in the shipping by constantly changing the mode of water transport and speeding up the adjustment of water transport structure.

At present, there are 231 cargo ships with 1.26 million tons loading capacity in active service, and 24 Ships with a total capacity of 200,000 tons are currently under construction.
