Since the Belt & Road Initiative was proposed in 2013, China has become the largest trading partner of 25 Countries along the routes, said the Ministry of Commerce Friday.
Chu Shijia, Director of Comprehensive Department of the Ministry, told a press conference that over the past six years since the joint endeavour on the Belt & Road Initiative was launched, the total volume of trade in goods between China and the Countries along the routes exceeded 7.5 trillion U.S. Dollars.
The Belt & Road Initiative, which refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, is a global development strategy adopted by the Chinese Government.
The Initiative is aimed at encouraging the Countries along the Belt & Road to achieve economic policy coordination and carry out broader and more in-depth regional cooperation of higher standards; and jointly creating an open, inclusive and balanced regional economic cooperation architecture that benefits all.
Since the launch of the initiative, the cooperation mechanisms of China and the countries along the routes have been improved
China has signed 198 documents on the joint efforts to implement the Belt & Road Initiative with 167 Countries and International Organisations.
Bilateral investment cooperation working groups with 44 Countries, and unblocked trade working groups with seven countries have been established to help solve promptly problems arising in bilateral trade and promote economic and trade cooperation.
