Belt & Road Medical Device Innovation and Application Alliance was established in Shanghai by 20 Organisations from Nine Countries during the 2019 Design of Medical Devices Conference, China, which attracted more than 1,000 representatives from universities and medical institutions.
The co-initiators include educational institutions, such as the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine; medical companies including Sinopharm Holding Group Co, Shanghai United Imaging Co and Shanghai Zhangjiang (Group) Co; as well as foreign members like Brazil’s Birthtech Health Devices Co, Italy based Sino-EU Link S.r.l., University of Pretoria in South Africa and Singapore’s Lifesense Group.
The New Alliance aims to increase cooperation between academia and industry, streamline connections between R&D and application, and form market-oriented device platforms and medical technology upgrades through innovation.
The members will integrate resources to obtain mutual benefits and win-win results.
They will explore the needs of hospitals and develop products to serve clinical practice and build a platform for medical device development, manufacturing and promotion.
They will also join hands in cultivating talent and innovating medical education to foster high-end internationalised medical device professions in Belt & Road Countries.
