Mr. Lam, who is on Hong Kong’s Special Administrative Region Government’s Belt & Road Committee, says French Polynesian Marine products, such as tuna and black pearls, could find a place in Hong Kong’s Market.

Mr. Lam, while on a familiarisation tour of Tahiti, said setting up Direct Air links to Hong Kong could open interesting opportunities for French Polynesia.

In a Statement from the Presidency: Chairman Lam and President Edouard Fritch also discussed possible communication links between China and Tahiti via a submarine cable.

Last month, the Chinese Consul in Tahiti was quoted as saying Chinese businesses are interested in talks about a cable connection across the Pacific as are several Pacific island Countries.
