The Chinese side has Confidence in Pakistan’s commitment to the Security and Smooth Construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Chinese Spokesman said in Beijing Monday.

Pakistan released a document on November 14 saying it has proof that India has been behind the terror attacks in the Country.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was quoted as saying that a clear correlation could be seen between the CPEC and terrorist attacks in the province of Balochistan.

Asked to comment on the issue, Zhao Lijian, Spokesman & Deputy Director General, Information Department at Foreign Ministry of China, said the Chinese government stands firmly against all forms of terrorism, and has faith in Pakistan’s capacity to safeguard the CPEC.

“The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an important pilot project of the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI). The corridor is of great importance to the joint development of China and Pakistan and is convective for promoting regional connectivity and common prosperity.

We have confidence that with the support of the international community, China and Pakistan are capable of building CPEC well and operating it smoothly. We believe the Pakistani side will continue to take effective measures the ensure the construction and security of the CPEC,” said Zhao.
