A Commemorative envelope embodying cultural exchanges between China and Costa Rica was unveiled by the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) in Beijing Friday.

On the envelope cover is a Beijing-themed painting that features a girl wearing a headdress used in China’s Peking Opera and was jointly created by Chinese and Costa Rican artists.

The release was part of a project launched by the CFPD, in which leading foreign artists are invited to design commemorative envelopes together with Chinese artists to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

The project aims to promote mutual understanding and friendship between China and participating countries, said Xu Jianguo, Secretary General of the CFPD.

Costa Rica signed a Memorandum of Understanding on joint contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative in September 2018.
