With relations between China and Kyrgyzstan at the historical best, China is ready to deepen cooperation with the Central Asian country for more benefits to both peoples, said Geng Shruang, Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at a press briefing in Beijing on Friday.
Geng made the remarks in response to Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov’s statement at an annual press conference on Wednesday in which he said that the bilateral relationship between Kyrgyzstan and China is “at a high level.”
The Chinese-Kyrgyz relations have grown to be an exemplary model in state-to-state relations
“China and Kyrgyzstan are friendly neighbours and comprehensive strategic partners. In recent years, with the personal attention and promotion of the leaders of both countries, the China-Kyrgyzstan relations have made great strides, as evidenced by constantly improving mutual political trust, fruitful cooperation in building the Belt & Road, flourishing people-to-people exchanges and ever-deepening security cooperation”.
“The bilateral relationship is at its historically high level, becoming an exemplar of state-to-state relations featuring mutual respect, friendly cooperation, mutual benefits and win-win results,” Geng said.
He said fruitful results have been made in practical cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan, especially that in the framework of the Belt & Road Initiative.
“In recent years, in the framework of Belt & Road Cooperation, the two countries have jointly carried out a series of major livelihood projects including the renovation of grid in southern Kyrgyzstan, the Osh Clinic Hospital and the road network in Bishkek, which have made important contributions to the local socio-economic development and improvement of people’s livelihood,” he said.
“China is willing to work with Kyrgyzstan to deepen cooperation across the board, make new progress in bilateral relations and deliver more benefits to the two peoples,” he continued.
China and Kyrgyzstan lifted bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership when Jeenbekov paid his first state visit to China in June 2018.
China is the biggest trade partner and the biggest source of investment for Kyrgyzstan.
