China will continue to work with Neighboring Countries to build a high-quality Belt & Road Initiative and Other Partnerships to realize integrated development, Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said.
Yang, who is also the Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the 17th China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit on Friday, in Nanning, South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, where he also met with Diplomatic Envoys of ASEAN Countries and Pakistan.
China, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Countries, Pakistan and Other Regional Countries have been keeping watch for and offering timely assistance to each other in a bid to make joint progress in battling the COVID-19 Pandemic, said Yang.
They have been carrying out mutually beneficial cooperation to jointly contribute to the recovery of the regional economy, he continued, adding that these countries have been upholding multilateralism and jointly safeguarding regional peace and stability.
China is about to finish building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and will embark on a new journey toward fully building a modern socialist country. During this process, the country will remain committed to the new development philosophy and establish a new development pattern, said Yang.
Yang noted that China will work with neighboring countries in the construction of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and push forward the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor to realize integrated development.
Themed “Building the Belt & Road, Strengthening digital economy cooperation,” this year’s expo aims to deepen cooperation in trade, digital economy, science and technology, health, and other fields to foster a closer China-ASEAN Community with a shared future.
With a planned exhibition area of 104,000 square meters, the expo has set up 5,400 booths in the venue. In addition, more than 1,500 enterprises from home and abroad will participate virtually in the four-day event, according to the organizers.
The expo will also host 11 high-level forums and more than 160 economic and trade promotion activities. Initiated in 2004, the Annual Expo is an important platform for promoting trade and bilateral relations between China and the ASEAN Nations.
