A high-level Chinese delegation, led by Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Yang, will start a three day visit to Cairo on Sunday, Media Adviser of the Chinese Embassy in Cairo said.
The CPPCC is one of China’s major Institutions responsible for monitoring implementation of laws and regulations in China, and following up on policies & political, economic, cultural, and Social National Policies, Presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.
The delegation will discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and China in all fields, the adviser said, according to media reports.
The talks will focus on comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation in various fields, within the framework of the “Belt & Road” initiative, the adviser said, adding that this visit was an opportunity to discuss the exchange of civilisations and cultures between the Egyptian and Chinese Peoples.
He pointed out that Yang’s visit to Egypt comes at the invitation of Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal.
The Chinese Initiative, “Belt & Road”, which aims to boosting trade, investments, and infrastructure in over 150 countries in Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The initiative is a revival to what was known as “The Silk Road.”
President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in June called for activating cooperation between China and African countries, particularly in the infrastructure sector, during the African-Chinese mini Summit on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Japan.
President Sisi met in April with Yang and a Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China.
During the meeting, Yang referred to the historical and extended friendship between Egypt and China and between their peoples.
He also stressed his country’s keenness to develop bilateral cooperation with Egypt at various levels, especially as the North African country is witnessing a developmental and economic renaissance, Presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.
