Prominent members of the local Chinese community, members of Diplomatic Corps as well as senior government representatives from various ministries attended the arrival reception for the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong and the Chinese New Year open house hosted by the Embassy of China in Brunei Darussalam yesterday night.
Among the guests at the event at The Empire Hotel & Country Club were Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin, notable businessmen and members of the Chinese community.
In her welcoming remarks, Yu Hong spoke of the strong bilateral relationship between Brunei Darussalam and China, highlighting the recent State Visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Brunei Darussalam.
The State Visit elevated bilateral relations as a strategic cooperative partnership, in line with China’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative and the Brunei Vision 2035.
“In the new year, we will hold the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and the 2nd China International Import Expo, and further promote the Belt and Road initiative to share opportunities and realise development with other countries,” she said.
“The Chinese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam will work closely with all sectors of society in Brunei to further implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, advance bilateral cooperation and promote people-to-people exchanges. The embassy will also continue to provide services to Chinese enterprises and Chinese citizens in Brunei.”
