In Istanbul, a Eurasian Economic Summit on Wednesday urged the Governments of regional countries to eradicate war and violence from their soils and cooperate more on technology & science.
The annual two-day summit in Istanbul, organised by Turkey’s Private Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation for the 22nd time, is drawing around 300 participants from over 30 countries.
Addressing the summit, Binali Yildirim, the speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, said the principal target of regional countries should be to protect the region from all kinds of confrontations, wars, violence and terrorism.
“Instead, we need to increase the opportunities for joint projects in numerous areas, including technology, art, communication, education, health, culture, tourism, science and trade,” said Yildirim.
The speaker urged world countries to take effective measures to solve the global problem of illegal immigration, including reducing injustice and the unequal distribution of wealth.
Akkan Suver, president of the Marmara group foundation, drew attention to the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China in bringing peace, stability and prosperity to a wide range of areas.
In his view, the richness of the cultures of the countries along the Belt and Road will automatically build “bridges of peace.”
President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov, meanwhile, highlighted the simultaneous development of technology and humanity. He also called for efforts to find alternative sources of energy and solutions to the global warming.
