Forum on Focusing on China’s Opening up & Development was held in Beijing on Tuesday, gathering Senior Officials, Diplomats, Scholars & Entrepreneurs from home and abroad to discuss how to promote high-quality growth and create a stronger domestic market.
Much of the discussion at the forum centred on a newly released report from the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation on China’s opening up and development, which called for more domestic reform and international cooperation.
China’s Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming said at the forum that the nation’s Belt & Road Initiative will continue to play an active role in global economic governance, while many others noted the important role China plays in driving the world’s economy.
“There are a lot of VIP guests talking about China’s opening-up & high quality development in recent years.
China now is the second largest economy in the world, and we are the largest exporter, and the second largest importer now. So China is making a very big contribution to the world economy, and has became the largest engine actually to the world economy,” said Jin Xu, Chairman of the China Association of International Trade.
Zhang Wei, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, said the newly released report shows China has offered opportunities for win-win cooperation with the rest of the world.
“This year, we released a report on China’s Opening up & Development to give a panoramic description of China’s opening up and development. According to the research results of the report, we find China’s opening up has not only promoted its own development, but also made important contributions to global economic development, providing more space for win-win results to our friends,” she said.
