A day dedicated to Swedish-Chinese friendship featuring a varied program and in cultural exchange will take place today at Betlehemskyrkan in Gothenburg: Over the day workshops as well as panel discussions about choral pedagogy and development as well as choral education in China and Europe.

In addition, wonderful choir performances will be presented by choirs from Sweden and China.

Everybody is invited to join an open singing session and learn two fantastic pieces: First song is “The Road”, a joint work by several Chinese composers; the second work is the official theme song of the Grand Prix of Nations Gothenburg 2019 and 4th European Choir Games, written by Swedish composer Susanna Lindmark. She will be on site personally to sing the song together with the audience.

The day closes with the “Gothenburg Welcomes the World” concert at the Kungstorget Open Air stage, right after the colourful Parade of Nations, which leads participants in the Grand Prix of Nations Gothenburg 2019 & 4th European Choir Games through the streets of Gothenburg.

First Vice President Wang Qin says about the “World Choir Events in the ‘Belt & Road’” – China/Sweden (Scandinavia) Day:

“This is a great step towards our wonderful aim to establish ‘World Choir Events in the Belt and Road’ in the near future. We’re very pleased that Gothenburg is the city that starts this choral movement – we appreciate the city’s warm and hospitality atmosphere that we’ve experienced here.”

The ”World Choir Events in the Belt & Road” China Day is organized as part of the program of the Grand Prix of Nations Gothenburg 2019 & 4th European Choir Games 2019, from August 3-10, 2019 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Organizers are Interkulur and Interkultur China, specially supported by the City of Gothenburg, Göteborg & Co, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Sweden, Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Gothenburg, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, China International Friendship Cities Association and the China Chorus Association.
