Northwest China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has enhanced its cooperation with Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) by officially joining the China-CEEC Association of Governors of Provinces and Regions.

The Vice Governor of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Lai Jiao was invited to attend the 5th China-CEEC Local Leaders Meeting and delivered a speech at the 6th Working Meeting of China-CEEC Association of Governors of Provinces and Regions, both held online on Friday.

A Memorandum of Understanding on the Promotion of the Establishment of the Association of Governors of Provinces of China with the Czech Republic was signed in August 2014, when the 2nd China-CEEC Local Leaders’ Meeting was held in Prague, the Czech Republic.

Now the association is joined by 75 local governments from China and 17 CEECs.

In recent years, Ningxia has highlighted exchanges and cooperation with CEECs, forming regular trade ties with 16 CEECs and becoming sister cities with five provinces and regions in four CEECs.

Joining the Association will help Ningxia to better integrate into the Belt & Road Initiative and inject new energy into developing an open economy with high standards and improved quality.
