Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, met with Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo in Malabo, the capital city of Equatorial Guinea.
Yang conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Xi to Obiang. In the meeting, Yang hailed the long-time friendship between China and Equatorial Guinea and the fruitful bilateral cooperation conducted in various fields.
“China is ready to implement with Equatorial Guinea the important consensus of the two heads of state and the fruits of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), to further develop their comprehensive cooperative partnership,” said the special representative.
He further confirmed that China will further enhance exchanges of governance experience with Equatorial Guinea and continued to offer firm support to each other on issues of core interest.
According to Yang, China is willing to promote the “Belt and Road” Initiative and implement the eight major initiatives announced by the Chinese president at the FOCAC Beijing Summit.
The two sides will strengthen pragmatic cooperation and China will facilitate Equatorial Guinea’s economy diversification strategy, bring benefits to people of Equatorial Guinea so as to build stronger ties between the two countries, Yang added.
Obiang asked Yang to send his best wishes to his Chinese counterpart, describing China as a ”major partner of Equatorial Guinea’. He appreciated China’s great support and assistance to Equatorial Guinea and welcomed more Chinese enterprises to invest in the country.
He hopes that the two sides can deepen cooperation under the FOCAC and the eight major initiatives announced by the Chinese president at the FOCAC Beijing Summit.
Yang also met with Equatorial Guinea’s Foreign Minister Simeón Oyono Esono Angue the same day.
