Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday an invitation from his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to attend the Belt and Road Initiative’s summit, set to be held in Beijing in April.

Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement that Sisi was handed over the invitation by Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

During Sisi-Yang meeting, the Chinese official asserted his country’s keenness to foster cooperation with Egypt within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and in light of the importance of Egypt’s regional and international role, Rady added. (MENA)
