The 2020 World Young Scientists Summit opened on Sunday morning in the east China city of Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province.

Jointly sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Zhejiang Provincial Government, the summit is held both online and offline.

Attending were nearly 800 renowned and young scientists from 125 countries, regions and international organizations, including members of the China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering, representatives of international science and technology organizations and renowned universities around the world.

On the opening day, the 16th China Association for Science and Technology Youth Science and Technology Awards were also unveiled and 100 young scientists won the awards.

The summit will focus on such major topics as the “Belt and Road” initiative, the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, the role of science and technology in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The summit will hold 29 activities including the “Future Energy Forum”, the “Global Young Scientist Scholar Roundtable”, and the “University Student Entrepreneurship World Cup Final” and the “Great Health Forum”.

This year’s summit is the second. The first one was held in 2019.
