We did not break what we had in Belarus and preserved the potential from Soviet times, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Senior Executives of Minsk Oblast on 26 June.
“We did not break what we had in Belarus and preserved the potential from Soviet times. Thus, we did not carry out transformations and reforms to break everything to shambles and then to build anew. We could have done it. But for such purposes not even hundreds of thousands but, probably, trillions of dollars are needed. Our country does not have this money, and no other country has. Do not believe that someone will start throwing money from a helicopter,” the Belarusian President stressed.
Aсcording to President Aleksandr Lukashenko, two projects of strategic importance for the country are being implemented on the territory of Minsk Oblast with the participation of Chinese friends.
First of all, this is the Chinese-Belarusian Park Great Stone which is meant to become one of the key Hubs of the Belt & Road initiative in Central and Eastern Europe. “Fine chemistry, biotechnology, electronics, machine building, new materials. These industries predetermine the new quality of the economy of Minsk Oblast and a significant boost in the competitiveness of our country,” the Head of State said.
Another enterprise is the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation. “These are advanced technologies. Deep processing of grain with the production of amino acids exists only in a few countries all over world. This project fully complies with the development guidelines for the next five-year period ;quality, export, import substitution,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
Speaking about the Enterprises which were set up in Soviet times, the President mentioned BelAZ, a producer of cutting-edge equipment. “Only a few countries produce such vehicles. Belarus accounts for almost 30% of the market of such vehicles. The first super vehicle with the capacity of 450 tonnes was made here. I drove this vehicle, and, surprisingly, it is as easy to operate as a Mercedes Car.
To produce such vehicles is a huge achievement, indeed, and the pride of the country. Now we are developing the next generation, drone technologies. We are doing it together with Russians, and this is the future of automobile manufacturing. As far as I know, tests are underway,” the head of state said.
Apart from that, car manufacturing has been arranged in Minsk Oblast in recent years. The range of vehicles will be expanded, there will be higher localisation. It is important for import substitution. One more New Enterprise is Stadler Minsk producing Railway Equipment.
“There are many untapped ideas. Not even ideas, but world-famous technologies. We need to move in this direction and develop such industries. These are our major investments. And the main thing is that we have people who know it and can do it,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko added that some people suggest bringing as many international corporations with markets and money as possible to Belarus and allowing them to buy local enterprises. The President is convinced that this approach will not prove effective. “It has never happened, they will not make us happy,” he said.
